ZX-6R gets a racy body from Skidmarx
Skidmarx have introduced race-specification bodywork and a matching screen for the 2009 Kawasaki ZX-6R. Designed for Gearlink, Kawasaki’s official British Supersport team, the fairing and seat unit are manufactured in the UK and directly replace the original body parts, so they will be useful for track days as well as competition use.
Both the fairing and single seat unit are manufactured in lightweight 450gm CSM material backed up with woven cloth. Unlike the road fairing, the race version has no headlight aperture or indicator mounting points, but has an enclosed belly pan with a catch tray to comply with ACU rules. All Skidmarx race bodywork is pre-drilled to fit onto existing mounting points and the kit is supplied with quick-release Dzus fasteners too. Skidmarx produce their race bodywork in plain white, ready to be painted in the team colours; the Race Fairing sells for £260- and the single seat unit (with integrated undertray) costs £110- (both prices include VAT). Skidmarx also offer a matching front guard, priced at £47-.
To complete the package Skidmarx produces race screens that are both thinner and lighter than the road versions. Manufactured from 2mm acrylic to offer enhanced optical clarity, two styles are available, standard at £39.95 and double bubble for £49.95, both of which are specifically designed to fit the Skidmarx race fairing.
