Triple treat from Farquhar at Cookstown
Ryan Farquhar was in flying form on his Q8Oils lubricated Kawasakis at the Cookstown 100, winning the Open, Feature and Supertwins events.
Held at the 2.1 mile Orritor circuit in County Tyrone, the annual Cookstown 100 is the opening of the road racing calendar in Ireland.
Fresh from his victory at Scarborough's Spring Cup the previous weekend, Ryan (number 77) scored a thrilling win in the Open race, beating Conor Cummins on the McAdoo Kawasaki into second with Keith Amor on the Wilson Craig Honda in third.
Farquhar was chasing Scotland's Keith Amor in the feature Superbike race when Amor crashed out on the penultimate lap, (escaping without injury), leaving the field clear for Ryan’s second win of the day.
His winning streak continued in the Supertwins event, finishing first on his Kawasaki 650 ahead of Suzuki-mounted riders Richard McCarrtney and Lee Hill.
However, victory again proved elusive in the Supersport 600cc race, although at least Ryan was not knocked off his bike, as happened at Scarborough during last weekend’s racing. Keith Amor was in record breaking form on his Honda CBR600RR, forcing Farquhar to settle for the runner-up spot, ahead of Michael Dunlop in third. Farquhar's next outing will be at the Tandragee 100 road races, which take place on Saturday May 2nd.
