Farquhar in fastest form at fastest TT races
Q8Oils supported Ryan Farquhar set his best ever laps on both his 1000cc superbike and 600cc supersport machines at the 2009 Isle of Man TT Races.
In a week that saw lap records tumble, Farquhar rode his Kawasaki ZX-6R to sixth and seventh place finishes in the two Supersport races. In the first Supersport race on Tuesday morning, Ryan recorded a personal best speed of 124.568mph on the final lap (his average speed over the 37¾ mile course), his fastest ever on a 600, and crossed the line in sixth. He was the highest placed non-Honda rider in the fastest 600cc race seen at the TT to date.
Back out on his ZX-10R superbike for the Superstock race later that day, Ryan set another personal best lap of the Mountain Course, (127.651mph), completing the first lap in sixth place. Disaster struck on lap two, when he ran out of petrol at Cronk ny Mona, forcing him to retire.
Rain on the west part of the circuit delayed Wednesday's 4-lap Supersport race by nearly four hours, adding to the pressure on competitors. When the riders eventually set off at 2pm the roads were still wet in places, as Ryan explains. "It was really damp through Glen Helen and I had a few slides and one minute there was grip, the next there wasn't so it was really tricky." Farquhar took the chequered flag in seventh, four places ahead of John McGuinness (one of the most successful TT racers), which shows just how tough this race was.
The lubricants used by the Ryan are blended in Q8Oils' purpose-built plant in Leeds, just like the Company's range of MOTO SBK oils that are available to road riders.
