Thunderbirds are go with Ventura
With its 1600cc engine, relaxed riding position and impressive tank range (quoted at 210 miles) the Triumph Thunderbird has excellent touring potential. Ventura now offer an aerodynamic luggage system for the big twin that offers huge carrying capability and is a more affordable alternative to the factory’s leather panniers. It can also be converted into a sports rack.
The light and stable Ventura system is based around two discreet L-brackets that are custom-made for the Thunderbird and chromed to match its classic styling. When luggage needs to be carried, simply slot the Pack Rack into the L-brackets and then slide the pack of choice onto the rack.
As the pack is positioned directly behind the rider, it offers excellent stability and does not add to machine width, allowing for easier filtering/parking and creating considerably less wind resistance than panniers. Ventura’s tailor-made rack system carries the bike clear of exhausts and the rear wheel, and ensures the load will not shift, even when accelerating hard – ideal for torquey twin cylinder machines. When carrying a passenger, the pack may be mounted behind the pillion seat.
When luggage is not required, the Pack and Rack can be removed in seconds and replaced with an optional chrome Sport Rack or Grab Handle. Pack sizes vary from 35 to 102 litres, (depending on pack/combination); the 51-litre capacity Spada Pack (pictured) comes in black, red or blue at £99.20. The system pictured also features chrome L-brackets (standard items are black) at £112.50 and Pack-Rack (£59.28). The sport rack retails for £53.46.
