One year’s free fuel with new Peugeot Vivacity scooters

Peugeot is celebrating the arrival of its 100 mile per gallon Vivacity Sixties scooter by offering to cover the cost of fuel for the first 2000 miles – equivalent to free fuel for a year for most riders*.

The offer is remarkably simple. Peugeot has calculated that, based on average mileage and fuel consumption figures, it would be possible to run a Vivacity scooter for up to 12 months on 100 litres of fuel. Therefore anyone buying a new Vivacity Sixties scooter between now and 30th June will receive a cheque from Peugeot for £120, sufficient to buy 100 litres of unleaded petrol**.

Powered by a clean modern 4-stroke engine, the Vivacity Sixties has a classic colour scheme but also has many modern design features; its generous 8-litre fuel tank is located under the floorpan, which lowers the centre of gravity for enhanced handling and allows for greater capacity, meaning longer between refills. By relocating the fuel tank Peugeot could keep the seat height low, at 786mm, making the Vivacity accessible to most people. Peugeot designers have created extra storage inside a lockable compartment the front legshield in addition to the substantial storage bay under the seat. There is even a 12V charging socket for pones and accessories.

Scooters with 50cc engines can be ridden by riders aged 16 and over (following Compulsory Basic Training) and many people with a full driving licence are automatically entitled to ride one. With widespread access to bus lanes and free parking too, scooters can dramatically cut journey times while helping owners to beat the recession too. Priced at £1,699 on the road, the Vivacity Sixties is covered by Peugeot’s 2-year warranty for peace of mind. * These figures are based on an average annual mileage of 2000 miles (figure for a 50cc scooter – source; Glass’s Guide). ** The fuel cost is calculated at £1.20 per litre (source AA Fuel price report April 2010), with average fuel economy of 100 mpg (official factory figures).
