Ride to the End of the World is underway
Kevin Sanders, Guinness World Record-breaker, motorcycle expedition guide and director of motorcycle tour company, Premier Moto, is currently leading 14 intrepid travellers on the first ever tour in South America on behalf of World of BMW. Billed as the ‘Ride to the End of the World’, the 2156-mile expedition started in the Chilean town of Osorno last week and continues through Patagonia to Ushuaia and the southernmost tip of South America.
En-route the group will experience the stunning scenery of the Torres de Paine and Tierra del Fuego National Parks, cross the Magellan Straits, marvel at the 250 km2 (97 sq mi) Perito Moreno Glacier and ride the 1,240 kilometers (770 mi) Carretera Austral highway in Chile. The group will also be staying on a working estancia (ranch), on the infamous Ruta 40.
In true adventure spirit, the group has already had to contend with road blocks, fuel shortages, volcanic ash, demonstrations along the Carretera Austral, as well as almost 1,000 miles of dirt and gravel roads through the most remote parts of Patagonia. “It’s all part of what adventure travel is about”, says Kevin, “and adds to the satisfaction of reaching Ushuaia, the most southern city in the world reachable by road”.
Kevin will be blogging and uploading images throughout the trip, visit: www.facebook.com/WorldBMW for the latest news.
If you wish to participate in this gritty adventure next year, dates are already published for 2013. For further info call Premier Moto on 08452 304015 or visit www.premiermoto.co.uk
