80th birthday party at Royal Enfield Open Weekend.
This year's Royal Enfield open weekend will be held on 23rd-24th June, giving Bullet enthusiasts the chance to celebrate the model’s 80th anniversary, test ride the new generation machines, tour Royal Enfield UK’s Cotswold HQ, and much more.
The Royal Enfield Bullet is the world’s longest running production motorcycle. First made in Redditch in 1932 it shares its 80th birthday with other well-known British brands Weetabix and Roberts Radio: both established in the same year and still going strong today.
Although UK manufacture of the Bullet ceased in 1962, a satellite plant opened in India in 1955 and production continues there to this day: last year 70,000 bikes rolled off the production line, the majority of them Bullets.
Visitors wishing to test ride a modern fuel-injected Royal Enfield Bullet should bring both parts of their driving license and suitable riding wear. Along with the current range of Royal Enfield motorcycles will be the Watsonian Squire sidecars range, a special 80th anniversary display and a host of other attractions including special guests. Full details to be announced nearer the event.
Royal Enfield’s seventh annual open weekend will take place over the weekend of 23-24 June 2012, at the Watsonian-Squire works in Blockley, Gloucestershire. Entry is free and everyone is welcome, whether they ride a Royal Enfield or not. For more information and updates visit www.royal-enfield.com or call 01386 700907.
