Cold weather proves pants for British bikers
Unseasonal cold weather in March led to a significant increase in sales of textile trousers, according to the UK's largest independent retailer of motorcycle clothing.
While sales of thermal clothing and waterproof jackets increased by 20% during March, the coldest for 50 years, Infinity Motorcycles report that demand for specialist motorcycle trousers doubled, compared to the same period last year.
Managing Director, Rob Puttick, believes that falling temperatures had a direct effect on sales; "For most road riders it's the upper body that is affected by wind-blast, so customers invest in a decent quality jacket to keep their core warm. However, March was so cold that people needed to wear decent quality waterproof trousers with a proper thermal lining to stay out in those temperatures."
With nine stores in locations as varied as Southampton, London and York, Infinity Motorcycles have a unique perspective on motorcycling trends.
