Andes & Caribbean by Bike with GlobeBusters
GlobeBusters have added Colombia to the list of destinations for their new two-week long fly-ride adventures. Designed for motorcyclists who do not have enough time for a full expedition, the itinerary provides plenty of time in the saddle and opportunities to enjoy the region's culture too.
Back on the map after decades of civil conflict, Colombia is an incredibly varied country that offers lush green forests, mountains and valleys, coffee plantations and Caribbean beaches, all linked by well-maintained roads.
Riders will cover 2000 miles in total, combining on- and off-road riding through the rugged Colombian highlands. The route takes in Medellin, former stomping ground of drug lord, Pablo Escobar, and Cartagena, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most impressive colonial towns in the Western Hemisphere. The twisting mountain roads to the terraced valleys of the Zona Cafetera, where half of Colombia's coffee is produced, are a highlight for motorcyclists, while the pristine white sand tropical beaches in the North offer a chance to relax in the warm waters of the Caribbean.
Departing from Bogota on 21 February 2015 and returning on 7 March 2015, bed & breakfast accommodation, motorcycle leader, dedicated support vehicle and airport collections are all included. Prices for the trip start at £2800 and a variety of bikes are available to hire, from the BMW G650GS at £1,499 to the R1200GS at £2,499.
