X-Head for BMW R1200RS and R1200R
Machine Art's X-Head guards are now available for all liquid cooled R1200 BMWs, including the new R1200R and RS models.
Designed to protect the Boxer engine's valve and spark plug covers during a fall, the X-Head's tough outer shell is made from an injection-moulded polycarbonate, mixed to offer high strength and flex under impact. Inside, a thermoplastic rubber liner rests against the face of the cylinder, helping to dissipate impact force and prevent 'hard contact' with the ground.
Even during a stationary drop, inertia can cause a bike to roll partially onto the face of the head. Unlike conventional engine bars or crash bungs, X-Heads wrap around each cylinder, covering 80% of the surface, protecting the mid-section as well as the bottom/front initial impact area. The wide area of coverage also acts as a barrier against flying debris.
Quick and easy to fit – they fix directly to each head – lightweight and styled to complement the R models, X-Heads are ideal for riders who want protection without having to resort to bulky engine bars. They can be fitted alongside most engine bars, for complete protection.
