Historic race bikes fire up for MCN Festival

A huge selection of historic machines will be fired up for the Classic Race Bike Parade at the MCN Festival on 16th-17th May 2015.

Celebrating 60 years of Motor Cycle News, the parade will be run on a small-but-perfectly-formed circuit at Peterborough Arena, giving visitors to the event a unique opportunity to see, hear and smell glorious world-class bikes from the past six decades.

With help from Brackley Festival, MCN has created a paddock filled with sports bikes that defined their era, such as the 1961 Norton Domiracer and Honda's 50cc RC115 Grand Prix bike of 1965.

For fans of the Seventies there is an ex-Percy Tait 500cc GP Triumph and TZ750 Kenny Roberts replica, while the 1990's are represented by the ex-Steve Hislop 585cc Norton ‘White Charger’ TT winner and a 1994 Suzuki RG500 Kevin Schwantz replica. More recent machinery includes the ex-John McGuinness 1000cc Honda SP-1 from the 2000 TT, ex-Frankie Chili Factory 999cc WSB Ducati and 2003 ex-Capirossi 990cc Factory GP Ducati.

The parade is just one of many activities that Festival-goers can enjoy. There are opportunities to take test rides on some of the latest 2015 bikes from Harley Davidson, Kawasaki, KTM, Triumph and Yamaha or to try out a classic/vintage machine courtesy of the National Motorcycle Museum.

There will be plenty of action on track too, as Grand Prix icon Kevin Schwantz & Enduro legend David Knight battle it out in the NEW MCN Transatlantic Trophy flat track races. Another exciting new spectacle is the Extreme Enduro Sprint, a straight-line, flat-out mad dash over impossible obstacles - like a high speed version of trials riding. This new style of off-road riding is thrilling, fast-paced and not to be missed! There is also a large retail zone where you can grab a bargain.

The MCN Festival of Motorcycling is at the Peterborough Arena from May 16th - 17th 2015. Not only will visitors save money by booking in advance - prices start from just £19 - they also receive advance notification (via email) when the booking system for test rides opens.Visit mcnfestival.com for details.
