18,000 VISITORS EXPERIENCE MCN FESTIVAL
This year's MCN Festival has been hailed a huge success by trade & public alike, with visitor numbers up by 24% on the previous year.
A grand total of 18,834 people flocked to Peterborough Arena, attracted by the opportunity to test ride new and classic bikes, see racing legends battle it out in the Transatlantic Trophy race series, enjoy stunt action and browse the huge retail, club & autojumble zones.
Well over a thousand test rides were taken, both on and off road. The latest bikes from BMW, CCM, Ducati, Herald, Indian, KTM, Suzuki, Triumph, Victory and Yamaha were ridden around local roads and visitors also tested Triumph Tiger adventure bikes in an off-road setting. There were motocross taster sessions with the Yamaha AMCA MX Experience and even rides on a selection of classic and vintage machines from the National Motorcycle Museum. Bultaco brought the all-new Brinco moto-bike concept for British riders to test for the first time in the UK.
Live entertainment was laid on throughout the weekend; Chris Walker led Team GB to a decisive victory over Colin Edwards and the Americans in the Transatlantic Trophy flat-track races, while stunt aces Steve Colley and Dave Coates displayed their exceptional skills throughout the weekend, alongside sprinting demonstrations and classic race bike parades.
With 112 exhibitors in the Retail Zone, festival-goers were spoilt for choice, with everything on offer, from specialist parts and tools to the latest clothing, accessories and gadgets from big biking brands.
For bargain hunters and those after rare and elusive items, the new autojumble proved a huge success, with more than 70 different stands to browse, while the expanded Club Zone hosted 32 national and local organisations, including sidecars, trikes and even vintage scooters.
The MCN Festival of Motorcycling will return to Peterborough Arena on May 13-14 2017. For more information visit: www.mcnfestival.com.
