Extra space for British Rocket

Watsonian’s GP700 sidecar offers extra carrying capacity for owners of the Triumph Rocket III.

Powered by the biggest production motorcycle engine to date, the 2.3 litre Triumph has plenty of grunt for sidecar hauling, while the wide body GP700 will carry an adult, or two children, in comfort, with plenty of space for luggage in the rear locker.

The Rocket's beefy 43mm USD front forks and KYB preload-adjustable twin rear shocks will easily manage the extra demands put on suspension, while twin 320 mm floating front brake discs with Nissin 4-piston calipers and ABS delivers reassuring stopping power.

However, the Rocket's tubular steel twin spine frame doesn't offer any suitable mounting points for a sidecar, so Watsonian produce a specially engineered tubular steel subframe, which is fixed to both sides of the motorcycle, providing a secure mount for the four attachment arms.

The GP700 is the largest of Watsonian's Grand Prix range of sidecars, which were originally introduced in 1966. Its body is made from fibreglass with a polished gelcoat finish. Traditional polished aluminium beading is fitted on the nose and cast luggage rails on the boot lid. The bench seat is 700mm wide and the rear locker has a 185-litre capacity.

Made in Watsonian's factory in the North Cotswolds, prices for the GP700 sidecar start at £6,295- including VAT and the Rocket III fitting kit costs £1250-. For more information call 01386 700907 or visit www.watsonian-squire.com
