The Ride – London to Beijing now on Amazon Prime
Cambridge Filmworks six-part overland motorcycle adventure travel series The Ride – London to Beijing is now available to watch on Amazon Prime in the UK, US and Germany.
Double Guinness World Record Holder and world-renowned adventure rider Kevin Sanders has a dream. The former London motorcycle courier aims to gather a team of regular riders, train them and lead them on the very first guided motorcycle expedition ever to attempt a trans-Asian crossing, a staggering 21,000 kilometers (13,000 miles). This is a journey along the fabled Silk Road like you have never seen before.
Their route includes Western Tibet and Mount Everest, the Hindu Kush, the Pamir Highway on the Afghanistan border and the largely undiscovered “Stans” where political violence erupts without notice.
Filming The Ride London to Beijing very nearly didn’t happen. Adam Giles of Cambridge Filmworks, explains the not so silky start to the Silk Road adventure:
“The expedition very nearly didn’t get filmed at all! I missed filming the European leg, because of difficulty getting filming permits and visas, and only just managed to catch up with the team in Turkey before they hit the Silk Road, crossing the Bosporus and into Asia. A cliché I know, but it was a trip of lifetime - riding into Everest base Camp was literally a highlight!”
This unique extreme motorcycle expedition takes the group of 11 wannabe adventurers into some of the most hazardous and stunning terrains on the planet – riding over some of the world's highest navigable passes, where sudden altitude sickness can kill, through avalanche-prone mountain ranges, landslide-stricken dirt highways, across ferocious swollen rivers and through some of Asia’s most colourful cities.
