New Lambretta sidecar from Watsonian
Sidecars were hugely popular with scooterists in the 1950s and Watsonian report steady demand from owners of modern classics too, spearheaded by the Vespa GT range.
Attaching a sidecar to the metal-bodied Lambretta proved challenging, even for the experienced engineers at Watsonian, so they designed a specific sub-frame. This bolts beneath the footboards on the scooter and provides secure mounting points for the arms from the sidecar's platform chassis.
Customers can choose between the GP Manx sidecar body, with its distinctive octagonal nose, or the lightweight Prescott, pictured here. Both sit on a tubular steel chassis, which is powder-coated for a long-lasting finish, and fitted with hydraulic suspension for a smooth ride. The deeply valenced Classic mudguard and 12" alloy wheel complement the classic lines of the scooter.
The Lambretta fitting kit costs £1,200 including VAT and prices for the Prescott sidecar start at £5,395. Watsonian can even supply a complete outfit, with a new Lambretta V Special 200 + Prescott Sidecar, including a steering damper, for £10,995 on the road.
